The Reading Room and Center for Ethics of Science and Technology, Chulalongkorn University present “Philosophy and Its History,” a lecture by Martin Lin (Rutgers University/Ashoka University) on Saturday February 14, from 2-4pm, at The Reading Room, Silom 19.
Why is the history of philosophy part of philosophy? The histories of physics, mathematics, and psychology, for example, are not typically considered core parts of the disciplines of physics, mathematics, and psychology. They are subfields of history. Lin will argue that the difference between philosophy and other disciples can be explained by the different rates of progress in those disciplines.
