ซีป้าขอเรียนเชิญสื่อมวลชนและผู้ที่สนใจเข้าร่วมฟังการอภิปรายสาธารณะเรื่อง เสรีภาพอินเทอร์เนต:แนวคิดใหม่ อุปสรรคใหม่ ในวันที่ 17กุมภาาพันธ์ 2554 เวลา 9.00ถึง 13.00น.ณ ห้อง210ตึกมหาจุฬาลงกรณ์ คณะอักษรศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย
งานนี้จัดขึ้นโดยได้รับความร่วมมือจากศูนย์นโยบายสื่อมวลชนไทย คณะนิเทศศาสตร์ จุฬาฯ และเครือข่ายพลเมืองเนต ท่ามกลางความสนใจที่พุ่งเป้าไปที่การพิจารณาคดีสำคํญของนางสาวจีรนุช เปรมชัยพร ผู้อำนวยการบริหารของเว็ปไซต์ประชาไท (Prachatai.com) ซึ่งถูกดำเนินคดีในข้อหากระทำความผิดตามมาตรา 15ของพระราชบัญญัติว่าด้วยการกระทำความผิดที่เกี่ยวกับคอมพิวเตอร์ปีพศ.2550ซึ่งมีบทลงโทษทางอาญา
เวที่นี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อสำรวจดูแนวคิด และอุปสรรคใหม่ๆในเรื่องเสรีภาพทางเอินเทอร์เนต ในบริบทการต่อสู้หรือการเปลี่ยนแปลงทางการเมืองและประชาธิปไตยที่ใช้สื่อใหม่เป็นเครื่องมือ ในประเทศไทย มาเลเซียและ อินโดนีเซีย และผลกระทบที่จะเกิดขึ้นต่อเสรีภาพในการแสดงออกของประชาชนและเสรีภาพทางอินเทอร์เนต
นอกจากนี้ยังเป็นโอกาสอันดีที่จะใช้เวทีนี้สะท้อนปัญหาและข้อกังวลต่างๆเกี่ยวกับการจำกัดเสรีภาพทางอินเทอร์เนตในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ที่สอดคล้องกับบทเรียนของเว็บไซต์ประชาไท
ทั้งนี้จะมีวิทยากรจากภูมิภาคฯ และผู้เชี่ยวชาติต่างชาติในเรื่องการส่งเสริมเสรีภาพทางอินเทอร์เนต มาร่วมแลกเปลี่ยนประสบการณ์และถกถึงแนวโน้มในอนาคตของการเมืองยุคดิจิตอลในภูมิภาคฯ โดยถอดประสบการณ์สดใหม่จากการต่อสู้ทางการเมืองที่ใช้สื่อเครือข่ายสังคมเป็นเครื่องมือในประเทศอียิปต์มาสู่ประสบการณ์ของประเทศไทย ดูรายละเอียดตามหมายที่แนบมา
